We weren’t going to get a Christmas tree this year, but then Jennifer decided we had to have something to put the gifts under, so she went out and got this Charlie Brown-worthy tree.
The day started with my mother’s traditional Christmas breakfast of Eggs Benedict and Champagne, followed by gift exchanges and two video calls, one with my mother and all her children and grandkids, and another with Jennifer’s sister and brother-in-law.
All told, it was pretty satisfying given the circumstances.
I wish everyone reading this a peaceful and healthy holiday season, and a much more ordinary New Year.
I never focused on the tree; the whole thing was so pretty.
