Bonnie is Back

Posted on October 25, 2020October 31, 2020 by Paul Knight

Back in July I blogged about our next-door neighbor’s dog, Bonnie, whom we took care of for a few days while our neighbors were traveling. This weekend we’re dog-sitting Bonnie again, but we haven’t had quite as easy a time of it.

Bonnie, it seems, is not fully house-trained. Or perhaps she’s house trained in her own house, but not in ours.

She arrived Friday afternoon, and when we woke up Saturday morning she was very eager to go out. I put on my robe, put a leash on her collar, and followed her as she raced down the stairs to the front hall. Then she peed on the rug before I could open the front door. Later that morning I discovered that at some point since her arrival she had left us two little piles on the rugs in our great room and living room. Fortunately they were dry enough to pick up without leaving anything behind, though I scrubbed the carpet in those spots anyway.

So now we’re keeping her confined in the same room that one or the other of us is in so that she’s never out of our sight, and this morning, as soon as we woke up, I went downstairs, opened the front door, then went back up and put a leash on Bonnie. She again ran down the stairs ahead of me but this time she was able to run right out the front door. I gave her a chance to do all her business before we came back inside.

But she’s cute, isn’t she?
