Jennifer and I hosted a little get-together on Zoom last night with two other couples whom we like and who know each other. It was fun, and convinced me that this is something we should do more of.
Some people are doing a lot of this kind of virtual socializing, but while we’ve participated in a few such occasions, we haven’t had much enthusiasm for organizing our own virtual alternatives to the face-to-face gatherings that we frequently hosted before the pandemic. We’ve gotten together with people outdoors, but as the weather becomes increasingly uncongenial to that kind of socializing, it seems clear we’re going to need to be more proactive about inviting people to join us online. Otherwise it’s going to be a very lonely winter.
