In a previous post, I shared my favorite conversation starter: “So what’s making your life interesting these days?” Today I came across a New York Times interview with Terry Gross in which she shares tips for having better conversations.
Much of her advice is more about how to conduct an effective interview than how to have a social conversation, but it was interesting nonetheless, and I especially liked Ms. Gross’s first tip. She says the only icebreaker you’ll ever need is “Tell me about yourself.”
